Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. Council members are democratically elected by their classmates. The School Council gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community. The minutes of their meetings are shared with the governing body. They are consulted by Senior Leaders and School Governors on important school decisions. They are involved in our teacher recruitment process, many of whom recount the school council interview as being the scariest part of the interview process! They are also responsible for choosing the charities our school supports each year, they have a pot of money which they can spend as they see fit for the benefit of their peers.
This year, the children have chosen to sponsor two puppies, one called Hebe, who is training to be a hearing dog and the other puppy is called Parsnip, who is training to be a guide dog for the blind. The children just couldn't decide which one, so we took a whole school vote and divided the money in two so we could have one of each.
